Rain, Snow and Flat Tires

It has been a while since I last wrote but with technical difficulties, moving furniture north and unexpected delays, the time just disappeared. But here we are another week and another trip planned for Bancroft. Last Thursday we loaded the trailer at 7 a.m. and headed north ahead of the dark clouds coming at us from the west.
In Ontario, if we don't have snow we have highway construction and highway 28 still has a crew working to get things done before the snow comes.
We actually saw a few flakes of snow as we reached Bancroft but they quickly melted as they hit the ground.
Our first job was to unload the trailer. Although cold we did get it done before the rain arrived and we still have room for more "stuff"  YEA!!!!!!
Next it was into town for lunch, then out to see our property. This was a short visit for the rain arrived just as we were thinking of cutting more trees.

Thursday night we stayed with our friends Marvin & Annie and then took a load from Martha's and headed north  Friday morning. Friday turned out to be sunny and reasonably warm so we cut and stacked more logs for firewood.
By the time we got back to Peterborough we were both "bushed" Annie had prepared home-made chicken soup, delicious and we were so grateful for a hot meal.

Saturday, Marvin helped me "winterize" the trailer and then after lunch we headed for home with the "Airstream" . Sean offered to bring the utility trailer on Monday so we could still move stuff north. Unfortunately the trip home was cut short and found us at the side of the road dealing with this ............

Flat tires are not enjoyable, especially when you are pulling a 30ft trailer and trying to get home. Fortunately I had signed up for CAA last month and they had a flatbed truck there to take me to Costco for new tires. The guys in the tire shop were great, staying late so we could get back on the road that night. Marvin and Annie once again came to our rescue and pulled our trailer back to Peterborough while I waited for the tow truck.

Since it was after 6 by the time I was out of Costco we all went to Kelseys for dinner then decided to stay in Peterborough for the night. Great to have your "house on wheels". You can sleep where ever you can park it.

Sunday came and we once again ventured out hoping to get home this time without incident our surprises.

The 407 was almost empty Sunday morning and we were soon cruising into Brampton, glad to be home and thankful for all the kindness so many people had shown us in our time of need.

Thanks everyone at Costco, to Marvin & Annie who feed us, housed us and who always advise us on what the trailer needs, You guys are awesome!
