Neighbours

You might think that camping in the desert would be a lonly experience; not so. We have a small gathering of fellow "Airstreamers" and there are thousands of other RVers within a few miles of our trailer. There is a real sense of community here even though everyone knows it's temporary.
Yesterday Phil stopped by with this:
We called it the "Kelly Care Package" Phil and Mary and been discussing making a starter for sour-dough bread,  and Tony suggested making our own yoghurt. Since Phil dehydrates many of his fruits and vegetables he grows himself there was more discussion on this technique as well. Finally Phil said. "Give me five minutes and I'll bring over some samples." So over came the "care" package you see above. The white packages on the left are starter kits for yoghurt and sour-dough,. The 5 packages on the right contain dehydrated zucchini, cucumbers, kale, carrots and green beans. WOW! The jar you see is his own home-made apple-sauce. Now, how thoughtful is that? And you thought we were suffering out here in the desert. Not a chance when you are surrounded by so many helpful people.

So who is Mary talking to now?

While Phil was  here, Tony pulled up and Mary had a cell phone call from Parker.Mike had offered to pick up a few items Mary needed when he was in Parker yesterday. He called Tony, since he didn't have our number, and was on the line explaining that he couldn't find the flat-breads Mary had asked for and he was calling to see if she would accept a replacement brand.  How considerate is that? WOW! People here are just so thoughtful and so giving. Maybe we all should live in a desert where we can speak to our neighbours and take the time to help when help is needed.

Tomorrow we will find out what Mary was doing sitting out by the trailer this afternoon. Any guesses?
