Vegas Truck #2

OK, complaints about the first posting of truck pictures. Carol and Mary weren't impressed, so another attempt to please everyone. I've never done 3 blogs in one day, must be leapyear.

Let me know what you think Bob, after all it's your truck, so you get the last call. If you click on the picture you will get a larger view.

Bob, the shot above is the one I like the best. There are others to look at so check out them all and let me know which ones you would like me to print.

Vegas Truck

Another two blogger day. We are still in Vegas, having a good time especially when you get a visitor. Bob, Carol and Don's neighbour, was in the area so we made arrangements to meet for breakfast. Great food, great company. Now I promised Bob I would post a few pictures I took in the parking lot so they may not be of interest to everyone, but I was very happy with the way they turned out. I hope Bob likes them too.

The three amigos.

Thanks for stopping by Bob. It was great to see you. Maybe next time we can get some pictures of you coming through the mountains. Safe travels.

Walking the Vegas Strip

After lunch yesterday we decided to hit the "strip". For five hours we walked, enjoyed the sights, the shopping and the entertainment.

These guys were unbelievable. They did a routine to music, making themselves very robotic and then holding a pose for a very long time. A video would have given you a better idea.

Here we are in front of the Statue of Liberty in downtown Vegas.

Another street performer, get your picture taken, leave a tip. Everybody wants money on the "strip".

The M and M store beside the Coca-Cola store. Don bought a bag of M and Ms and shared them, so good!

Looking north down the strip.

It's was getting dark by the time we decided to head back to the truck.

We were ready to call it a night, but I'm sure the real action was just about to start.

Vegas Boots

We've been checking out boot stores for Mary's sister and niece since we are in the "Wild West" Today we found this store and decided to check it out ...

What a great billboard. When the rodeo is in town this place is jammed ..... today we had no problem checking out boots.

Possibilities for Valery, let us know if you like any here Margaret. These are priced at $89.00

Others for Valery at $99.00

Carol, checking out some boots ...... look good on her.

Margaret, the following boots are ones Mary thought you might like. Click on the picture to get a closer look at the boot and see the price. Send Mary an e-mail if you have any questions.

Carol, still looking. Don seems to be getting into the "western spirit" I like his hat.

More possibilities for Margaret, these are priced at $199.00

Let us know if any strike your fancy or we should keep looking.

Vegas Feb. 27th

Yesterday Don was kind enough to drive us around Vegas and up and down the "strip" so we could see what the place has to offer. Remember, these pictures were shot from a moving vehicle, so there is some ghosting in some of the pictures. I was shooting through the window, resting the camera on the dash or window ledge.

Many of the world's landmarks have been re-produced along the "strip"  You can see the "statue of Liberty", the Eiffel Tower, the pyramids, the gondolas of Venice, etc.

The Cirque de Soleil does several shows every week.

I like the way the setting sun was reflected in these windows.

Another shot of the Statue of Liberty.

Time to head home and get some supper.

Today (Tuesday) we plan to walk the "strip" and do some shopping.

Route 66

When we were kids we watched a TV show called "Route 66" Now I can't recall the actors other than the Corvette, but at the time route 66 was a major east west route in the USA. With the building of super highways here route 66 became a less travelled route and many of the motels, fast food places and downtown business that catered to the travellers have closed shop and gone elsewhere. There are pockets where you can revisit the 60's along the old route but they are few and far between. Yesterday as we drove from Sedona to Vegas we happened to find a section of old 66. Here are a few photos.

Once we got onto highway 93 we weren't far from the Hoover Dam, so another stop was planned.

This dam was built from 1931 to 1935 to dam the Colorado river and provide power to Nevada.

This a beautiful monument dedicated to the workers who worked on the project.

This is the view out our living room window here at Grandview in Las Vegas.  We arrived yesterday about 4 pm local time and are delighted with our accommodations. We have a two bedroom unit, which is exactly the same for both of us. Each unit has a bedroom, full kitchen, living room, dining room, and bath with shower and tub. Lots of space and the place is very quiet. We also have use of the BBQ outside, hot-tub, and swimming pool. (a little chilly for the pool today)

Not sure what the plans are for tomorrow. Mary and Carol are busy preparing chicken for supper and Don and I are on the computer.

Thanks for stopping by.

More Train Pictures

As promised here are a few pictures from our excursion up the Verde Canyon on Saturday.

Carol and Mary enjoying the outdoor car. The weather was perfect and we spent most of the trip outside.

The end of the line and the turnaround point. The engine was uncoupled and moved to the other end of the train for the return trip.

On the way up our car was connected to the caboose, a great spot to watch the entire train curve around the valley walls.

Lots to watch and enjoy as we headed back home.

We are now in Vegas and will post pictures once we get settled in and organized.

Thanks for dropping by.
