The Bed is Ready

Another very productive day. Steve was here before 7 a.m. and didn't stop until 4:30 The septic bed is in and just waiting for the inspector on Thursday. Meanwhile Steve will continue to work on the hill and get a hole dug for our solar panels.

If you need to work outside, best to work in the shade and Steve took advantage of the early morning shade. Here he is installing the pieces for the weeping tile bed according to the regulations set down by the Ontario government.

Steve operates the excavator better than I can handle my fork. The gravel for the bed is placed by the bucket where I would have been trying to shovel the load evenly across the tile bed.

The gravel was scooped out of the truck just like we scooped the ice-cream for lunch. This was necessary as the gravel couldn't have any other material mixed in as might have happened if the load had been dumped on the ground, then spread. Never once did he bump the truck or scrape the bottom;  just a very professional operation of the bucket.

While Steve worked at the top of the hill we worked clearing trees and brush from the bottom. Ben has been a great help and never complains about the work we give him.

The septic bed has opened up the forest allowing sunlight where we once had mostly shade. Not sure if we are entirely happy with the results, but realize we do need to keep the trees away from the septic bed.

Can you see Ben peeking through the front window? He is taking another load to the brush pile.

Tomorrow we work on the hill and maybe the west  gable build-out. We also need to select and prepare an area for the arrival of the bunkie in two weeks.

Lots to do before August when we hope to move in and enjoy company on the deck.

Thanks for keeping an eye on us.
