DEEP in MUD

We contacted 3 guys for quotes on taping and mudding the great room. Only one bothered to come out and take measurements and discuss the project, but he never called back. End result, Mary has decided to take on the task. So far so good. She watched a few videos on You-Tube and then got the mud out and went to it.

So here she is in action.

She has everything organized on Don's mobile scaffold and simply wheels it where needed.

This is her favorite gadget. Looks like a toilet paper holder but is a holster for holding the roll of paper used to tape the corners and joints on the drywall. She applies the mud, grabs the end of the paper roll and fits it into the corner. Voila, another corner done.

Here she folds the paper in half before fitting it into the corner. The paper comes creased in the middle so it is easy to fold.

Fit and finish are looking good and we are saving a bundle on labour.  Some visitors say we used too many screws on the walls but since we were applying the drywall directly on the durisol we wanted to make sure it stayed in place. They're placed 6" apart. Reminds me of a pincushion.

Today we are off to Peterborough so may not post tomorrow, but then again we might so stop by and thanks for keeping an eye on us.

Finally, I just wanted to wish Margaret, Happy Birthday! Hope you have breakfast in bed, and the day is yours to do what you want.

  1. Hello again
Off to Peterborough....imagine a day off !! I can bet you will be busy no matter where you are. Mary you are incredible to take on the task of mudding and then sanding. Hope you have a long handled pole for the sanding....it makes it easier. Don't envy you the upcoming dust BUT then the worst of it will be over. Can't wait till we can clear our workload and get over to admire all your fine workmanship first hand. Enjoy your day away !!!
