HANDLES

Ben installed the kitchen cupboard handles yesterday and they look great. Another job done, 10,000 still to do. The counters arrive on the 23rd, plumbing gets hooked up throughout the house on the 24th and then we will be totally comfortable in our house.

Special hinges were needed on cupboards with drawers. These hinges allowed the door to move forward then swing out of the way so the drawers could easily be pulled out.

We are now preparing and eating all our meals in the house. Slowly we are moving our stuff over from the trailer and settling into our more spacious, comfortable abode.

Every job requires clean-up so once all the handles were in place out came the vacuum cleaner. Remember we run everything off our solar system, no connection to the electrical grid. Yesterday our batteries started out at 91%. We did a load of laundry, ran the vacuum cleaner, computers, power tools, lights, refrigerator, water pump and by 4 o'clock the batteries were fully charged.

I think we could last 4 to 6 days just on our batteries without the sun recharging them. We have a propane generator and 500 gallons of propane so in the middle of our winter when the daylight hours are few and we need more power the generator will automatically sense that our batteries are getting low and fire up to top up the batteries. How often that will happen will depend on how much sun our solar panels get. I will keep track and report here on our progress. If you have any questions send them our way and we will try and reply within 12 hours.

Thanks for stopping by and safe travels.
