PLAY TIME

Mommy and Oma needed some quiet time so I took Owen over to the park.

Owen headed right for the climbers; no fear of heights. I think he takes after his Uncle Sean.
I asked Owen why all the pots and lids were stuck to the school fence. He had to demonstrate how they use them to create different sounds and make a band ........... how cool is that????

Once home it was a kiss from mommy and ice-cream from Bouly-Ds

No better way to celebrate Mothers Day.

Happy Mothers Day!!!! to all the wonderful mothers who keep an eye on our blog.

MOTHERS DAY

We are down visiting the kids this weekend, celebrating Mothers Day. Kate loves to have her picture taken by Grandpa.

Sean and Owen making slime from glue, shaving cream and contact cleaner.

Owen selected red food colouring for the slime.

Kate isn't into slime yet but she loves having play time with Oma.

Thanks Mom for all those special times.

PIZZA DAY

Today we made ten homemade pizzas; every one delicious.

The dough is made the night before and then shaped into a pie before going into the oven. For the initial bake it's just the crust and tomato sauce for three minutes.

Once cooled we added the ingredients of our choice then back into the oven for another six minutes. When done you have the perfect size personal pizza which is as good or better tasting than ones from the local pizza shop.

Perfecting the art of pizza making comes from doing and following the recipe exactly. This is the book Mary uses and it hasn't disappointed yet.

Now it's time to deliver supper to our friends.

Thanks for stopping by, sorry we couldn't send you a pie.

OWEN'S QUILT

Mary never stops; if she isn't working in her garden she's at her sewing machine. This is her latest quilt; she calls it "I SPY" for Owen.

The back looks just as appealing as the top. Either side would look good on his bed. Soon Kate will be asking for her quilt.

Mary isn't the only busy one. This porcupine has been enjoying the raspberry canes on our property. Wouldn't want to mess with him in the dark.

Thanks for stopping by and keeping an eye on us.

IT'S THE WRONG SEASON

Our view this morning. Doesn't look much like May 8th. Last year we had black flies and hot weather by now. Hopefully this is the last we will see until December.

Covered our little greenhouse with blankets and towels last night. We have lettuce, radishes, onions and spinach up and growing in our cold-frame.

We also have wildlife. These turkeys don't know that it's hunting season. They should be hiding not wandering our property.

This guy took our chickens last week. Usually foxes hunt at night but in the spring they have new pups to feed and will hunt in the daylight. We usually pen our chickens about 3 o'clock but when I went down at 2:30 to put them in for the night the fox had already been in the yard. We wont be getting replacements until we've built a large secure yard.

Maybe it's time to get a gun.

Always something new to learn up here.

Thanks for stopping by and safe travels everyone.

IT'S HARDER THAN YOU THINK

Digging ditches is harder than you think.

Yesterday it was time to climb into the skid-steer and get some work done.
Digging ditches with the skid-steer is easy, doing it by hand is harder than it looks.
I wanted the drain to empty out down the hill from the house so a 30 foot trench was dug. Of course we are sitting on bedrock so getting down 3 feet was impossible. I did manage to get it buried deep enough so it is protected from any traffic over it.

The tough part was going between the raised garden beds; that was done by hand.

Just waiting for the rain to see if all works properly.

Thanks for stopping by and safe travels everyone.
